Hallo Well its been a while since I delivered one of my trademark hefty updates. Time has been spent very productively this end and its been a nice break also. I have almost certainly banged on about the trio Moderat before, and the good heavens know that I can be obsessive about these things but I thought when better to write this than just before I visit their home city Berlin for the first time. For those unfamiliar they are three electronic music producers; two are Modeselektor and one is Apparat. I have absolutely no doubt that their second album is the one Ive listened to more than any other album in my life, and it came out a year ago. Its one of those rare pieces on which every tune is good. For me, every tune is awesome. Some give me impulses, know what Im saying. Anyway, I have been learning and playing the drumbeats recently in the hope that a musical project with this as its foremost influence will come my way! Ive noticed they dont have a drummer on stage but havent quite plucked the balls to email them. If I happen upon some fearless instinct in Berlin I may investigate their studio location and hawk until one of them pops out for a cigarette... Anyway (again) the crux of this monologue is that like all good this-generation groups, aware of the value in sending fresh content to our eyes/ears, and moreover simply a firm view on what is good/bad right/wrong with the world, Moderat have collaborated with Unicef by offering my favourite of their tunes to the worthy cause - https://youtube/watch?v=5rS6ffHrJwQ Enjoy
