Halloween is getting closer and pet safety is very important and sometimes not considered. Some important tips for keeping your pet safe during this holiday include: • Have pets stay inside and away from the front door as trick-or-treaters can excite or threaten your pet. Keeping them indoors also decreases the risk of them escaping or being frightened outside in the yard. • Cats should be kept indoors as well, especially black cats, as they can be at risk of harm. •Decorations can pose a threat so don’t allow your pet around jack-o-lanterns, candles, balloons, and other decorations that they could ingest, get tangled in or be injured. •Candy, candy and more candy! As most owners know Chocolate is toxic to dogs. Other toxins include raisins, certain nuts, and Xylitol which is a sweetener found in gum and candy. Lastly, be mindful of candy wrappers because if ingested your pet could choke or it could cause a life-threatening bowel obstruction. So remember keep your candy in a secure container and where your pet cannot reach it. If you have any questions or concerns please contact us we are happy to talk to you anytime.
