Happy Ash Wednesday! But must Ash Wednesday fall on wednesday? - TopicsExpress

Happy Ash Wednesday! But must Ash Wednesday fall on wednesday? Come to think of it! Ash Wednesday is the first day of Lent in the Western Christian calendar, directly following Shrove Tuesday. Occurring 46 days before Easter, it is a moveable feast that can fall as early as February 4 and as late as March 10. According to the canonical gospels of Matthew, Mark and Luke, Jesus Christ spent 40 days fasting in the desert, where he endured temptation by Satan. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of this 40-day liturgical period of prayer and fasting or abstinence. Of the 46 days until Easter, six are Sundays. As the Christian sabbath, Sundays are not included in the fasting period and are instead feast days during Lent. Ash Wednesday derives its name from the practice of placing ashes on the foreheads of adherents as a celebration and reminder of human mortality, and as a sign of mourning and repentance to God. The ashes used are typically gathered from the burning of the palms from the previous years Palm Sunday This world is a crazy place! One would have thought the leaders would have corrected things that are so glaring, but instead they prefer to follow tradition. I am in this particular case talking of the Roman Calendar which is in popular use all over the world. For a reminder, we have the Moslem Calendar, the Chinese Calendar, the Jewish Calendar, and so on. All these Calendars are based on the phase of moon (Lunar Calendars); but the most popular calendar, the Roman or Gregorian Calendar, is based on the movement of the sun, which makes it a Solar Calendar. For this Solar Option which we daily use, lets check out some bad thinking that bedevils it: 1. The word September is a misnomer for the 9th month; the prefix Sept in the Roman numeral stands for number 7, but it is used for 9th month 2. Then follows the error: Octo- is for 8, but we find it as the 10th month; Nona- stands 9, we find it as 11th month; Deca- is for 10, we find it as the 12th month. 3. Then we have leap year. If youre born on February 29th, your birthdays would only be celebrated in the next 4 years! According to the Calendar you really do not exist in the intervening years before your next birthday. Why do they, our rulers, allow this error-filled calendar? You still dont get it? It is because of the EASTER CELEBRATION! The only UNMOVEABLE FESTIVAL. Easter must always fall on Sunday (Easter Sunday), Easter Monday on the following day and Good Friday must necessarily fall on a Friday. Every other festival can fall on any day, but Easter must not be moved from Sunday, and Good Friday must always be on Friday. But I got news for you: Jesus Christ did not rise up from the dead on a Sunday. Read the Bible account in Luke 24:1-3; the stone was already rolled away from the grave on Easter Sunday. Neither did He die on Friday! If Jesus died on a Friday, then Bible is found a liar. Jesus said, He would be buried for 3 days and 3 nights (72 hours), Matthew 12:40 If He died on a Friday evening according to the Bible (Matthew 27:45-46), He could not have risen up on Sunday morning if we go by His testimony that He will spend 3 days and 3 nights in the grave. Now whose TESTIMONY will you believe? Whose report will you believe? Read your Bible well, dont let them give you a religion filled with idolatry and send you on the way to hell. Easter (Eoster, Ishtar, etc,) is the name of a fertility goddess, it has nothing to do with the Passover. The Jews still observe the Passover till today, with the occasion being MOVEABLE!
