Happy Birthday James J.T. Taylor (born August 16, 1953, Laurens, South Carolina). He is an American singer and actor best known as the former lead singer of the R&B, Disco, Soul, Funk band, Kool & The Gang from 1979 - 1988. While he was with, Kool & The Gang he scored many hits with the band including, Ladies Night, Too Hot, Celebration, Get down on it & many others. His second solo album included the solo hits, Feel the Need, Long Hot Summer Night, & Heart To Heart (duet with Stephanie Mills). During the 1990s, Taylor began his acting career in earnest appearing in the 1992 Hollywood movie, The Mambo Kings, and the long-running Broadway musical, Raisin. During Taylors solo career, he briefly reunited with Kool & The Gang, releasing the 1996 album, State Of Affairs (Curb Records). His last released solo album was in 2000. GARY
