These are either on the lyrics of Rajinder Krishan or Raja Mehdi Ali Khan. Here is one by Raja Mehdi Ali Khan who introduced the word Aap in songs. This is from the 1962 movie Anpadh wherein Nepali-Indian actress Mala Sinha did the title role opposite an intellectual professor Dharmendra. Raja and Madan Mohan seemed to have brought out the best in her in this song since it is ranked by the Nightingale herself amongst her top ten. The song is set in Raag Darbari or Darbari Kanhada. This is one of the most melodious raagas. Why is it called Darbaari? Because it was creatd by Tansen in the royal court or Darbar of Emperor Akbar.
