Happy Birthday to my Mom, Willie Bea Gartrell! I never imagined I could survive life without my mother, which is why I hold so dearly the lessons I learned from her words and her deeds! She was always more about the doing rather than the saying! I can show you better than I can tell you! was one of her mantras! Right from her very humble beginnings and less than ideal childhood, she seemed destined for a life that defied other folks perceptions of who she should be, although she was not preoccupied in the least with what those perceptions were! I cherish the experiences we shared through my childhood even into my own motherhood. I have learned not to regret unfulfilled intentions or what we never got around to doing. After sleeping into death one night, she has rested in peace for 21 years. I feel the constant presence of her spirit in my life. She comes to me in dreams and whispers when I need it most. I know she watches over me and strengthens me through my struggles! If you still have your mother here with you, count that as a blessing and make sure she knows that you love her! I made sure mine knew! The only reason Ive been able to live in peace for these 21 years is because I know she knew! #FlowersForTheLiving
