Happy Birthday today (Dec. 17) to American drummer Jim Bonfanti; he drove the beat for two of Cleveland, Ohios most legendary proto-Power Pop bands, The Choir in the 60s & Raspberries in the 70s; The Choir is best remembered for their 1967 regional Midwest smash hit, Its Cold Outside (reaching #68 on the Billboard Hot 100); with the addition of Eric Carmen, the band evolved into pioneering band, The Raspberries, known for such early70s classics as Go All the Way (1972 US #5), Lets Pretend, I Wanna Be with You & Tonight - a major influence on jangly guitar groups to this day; the original four-man lineup reunited in 2004 & undertook a well-received reunion tour in 2005 (resulting in the 2-CD/DVD Live on Sunset Strip); the bands iconic Go All the Way came to renewed attention in 2014 when it was included in the Marvel universe film, Guardians of the Galaxy; Jim currently plays in local Cleveland band, Boxer…(this & more featured today at Roch Parisiens Rocon Communications music chat page...)
