Happy Birthday today (Sept. 19) to Lita Ford (born Carlita Fordson), who first came to prominence as the lead guitarist with influential all-female 70s rock band, The Runaways, joining at just age 16; they released four studio albums & one live set during its run, featuring such popular songs as Cherry Bomb, Queens of Noise & their cover of The Velvet Underground’s Rock n Roll; following the groups 1979 breakup, Lita launched a guitar-shredding hard rock solo career, beginning with her underrated 1983 debut Out For Blood; she scored the 1989 US #8 & UK #47 single with Ozzy Osbourne Close My Eyes Forever; after a long recording hiatus, Lita released the album Wicked Wonderland in 2009 followed by the 2012 Living Like A Runaway (the title being celebratory, as Lita had recently settled differences with her former Runaways bandmates); in 2013, she re-united with Cherie Currie to record a Christmas single benefiting Toys For Tots…
