Happy Day 3 of Christmas Socks! Be sure to check out days 1 and 2 on my profile if you missed them! Christmas music is scarcely every recorded at Christmas time, for obvious reasons. My guys were recording Christmas Socks in early late summer/early fall - not exactly the festive season (especially in sweltering Orlando). The solution? Nancy ODonnell broke out strings of Christmas lights and even a small tree for the tracking room. And that wasnt all she ended up doing... but the rest is for another day. If you have ever been to Epcots candlelight processional, you have heard a song called Rejoice with Great Joy, and Philip jumped at the chance to produce and arrange it for this project. What he did with it was entirely unexpected, weaving an instrumental tapestry that borrowed (ok, stole) heavily from Benny Goodmans Sing, Sing, Sing. Philip J. ODonnell played trumpet, Kevin Arthur ODonnell played lead guitar, Roo ODonnell did Gene Krupa proud on drums and added sax, and Matt provided bass and trombone.
