Happy Hannukah // חג שמח It is Holiday season now and Copenhagen is prettier than ever, lit with many festive Christmas lights. We, however, celebrate our own holiday of lights. It is Hanukah, and two nights ago we celebrated the lighting of the first Hannukah candle at our home in Copenhagen. Hannukah is the holiday of lights and of the victory of freedom over persecution and bigotry. Many friends came to mark the holiday with us: members of the Jewish community, foreign ambassadors and diplomats, Danish political & community leaders, musicians and many women and men of letters and arts. We had a fantastic musical evening .It happened at the initiative of my friend Henrik Chaim Goldschmidt, principal oboist at the Royal Danish Orchestra and the founder of the Henrik Goldschmidt Middle East Peace Orchestra, a musical collaboration project between likely adversaries. I want to thank Henrik and his Royal Danish Orchestra friends: Vanessa Blander – violin; Anne Lindeskov – viola; and Samuel Kunstler – cello. Through their enthusiasm and distinct talent we all had a most memorable evening. And now, sit back, enjoy the music and Happy Holidays! /Barukh
