Happy Haunted Day, Cinefans... A certain superb space adventure remained #1 for the third consecutive week in a row, scaring off three poorly conceived newcomers. Lets get the results from Box Office Mojo and find out the estimated numbers. 1. Gravity - $31,030,000 2. Captain Phillips - $17,300,000 3. Carrie - $17,000,000 (New) 5. Escape Plan - $9,800,000 (New) 8. The Fifth Estate - $1,714,000 (New) The universally-praised Gravity has now amassed over $170 million in three weeks and will cross the $200 million threshold by next week. A major winner for Warner Bros. Captain Phillips has crossed $50 million and will target $100 million by the end of its run. A MUCH-needed win for Sony after flops and bombs galore for the studio. As for MGM/Sonys remake of Carrie, it brought nothing new to the table in terms of creativity, Summit, Stallone and Schwarzeneggers Escape Plan wound up stuck in its cell and couldnt get out and DreamWorks The Fifth Estate bombed since it failed to depict Wikileaks properly from its true story. Cloudy 2 is now at $93 million and will cross $100 million probably this week. Insidious Chapter 2 hit $80 million and Prisoners will cross $60 million for its run by next week. Up next this week Friday: Two R-Rated films will try to draw the older crowds to the theatres. If youre into Jackass, and we know there are a few of you who love seeing Johnny Knoxville do the craziest things for the heck of it: Bad Grandpa offers a showcase for his latest stunts on unsuspecting crowds playing a grandpa to an 8-year old grandson. Dont ask. Then, if youre the type of film fan who enjoys director Ridley Scotts films, like Brian is, then The Counselor may be for you: Michael Fassbender, Brad Pitt and Cameron Diaz lead an all-star cast in this thriller of characteristic wit and dark humor written by Cormac McCarthy (No Country for Old Men). And finally... A BIG congratulations to Dallan Nead and Daniel Ard with their successful film premiere of CineCera and DNA Visual Studios The Haunted Swing! And a MAJOR thanks to all the terrific, awesome fans who made it happen!! We couldnt have done it with out you, our Cinefans! All our thanks! Now its on to the next project! Til next time comes! -Vinny and Brian.
