Happy Indian Arrival Day to the East Indian community both here in Trinidad and Tobago and abroad. It was not until 1994 that Indian Arrival Day was officially recognized and made a public holiday. Many East Indian groups, namely temples and other religious organisations in Trinidad recognized the contributions of the East Indians and came to the conclusion that a public holiday was warranted. Today much of our culture, language, food, cooking utensils, music and clothing can be attributed to the east indian presence in Trinidad. Our very own Prime Minister, Mrs. Kamla Persad Bissessar is of east indian descent. May each and every one of you have a safe and enjoyable Indian Arrival Day.
