Happy Janmashtami Festival. A celebration of the birth of Lord - TopicsExpress

Happy Janmashtami Festival. A celebration of the birth of Lord Krishna or his manifestation in a physical form on Earth, is undertaken with much revelry on this day in Mumbai. It reminds me of the Bun festival on Cheung Chau Island Hong Kong. Teams of young men vie to reach out to the earthen pot that represents fertility, mother earth and lots more. Dancing and merry making on the streets, such community festivals are a wonderful way to unite and bring people together in reverence of supreme being. Ofcourse one can talk about traffic jams, environmental and safety hazards, but people who participate are just so immersed in playful and community spirit, this festival represents, it is a treat to watch and lot of fun too. It also does not matter which religion you follow, participating teams are comprised of young men of all faiths and they are all enthused about being the local heroes today. They train for months for this event. Ill be missing the revelry today but will be connecting to Lord Krishna just as I do so every moment and every day. I would also encourage you to do so and connect with this higher golden consciousness, we have come to recognize as Krishna (the beloved and playful one) and which transcends all boundaries of individual faith and is accessible for any and all of us at all times. As a spuritual guide Krishna is the charioteer, the way shower, the one who reminds us to perform actions and our earthly duties without a sense of attachment.
