Happy July 1st everyone. For those of you that did not know the importance of this date in my life here you go!! July 1st 1981 I signed up for karate. I remember it well I walked into this studio called Red Dragon Karate, a guy with a big wad of chaw introduces him self as Kevin and he is the Head Instructor. To get started was 39.95 for a five lesson introductory course, I paid my money and off I went. Little did I know the impact that 40 bucks would have on me a thousands upon thousands of people. There have been too many people to name who have guided me in this journey. But I have learned lessons from each and everyone of you. Because of the Martial Arts I became a Rotarian. Rotary has had such a positive influence on me. Then on July 1st 1990 I took over the same studio I signed up at 9 years earlier. The day I signed up for my Introductory Course was the last time I had seen Kevin. In May of 2010 I was at Lowes ordering some doors for our new Studio and the guy waiting on me says Oh I used to own a Karate Studio in Monrovia. It was Kevin. Kevin left the Martial Arts to do construction. Little did he know that the last person he would sign up would go on to own that studio. I thanked him for being an influential person in my life and went on my way. Here was this person who did not know who I was but he was one of the most influential people in my life. So it is this day that I would like to take a minute to say that we all must remember to treat everyone we come in contact with, with dignity and respect because we never know how that one person can change the world.
