Happy Labor Day! Today, I’m reminded of the many struggles our forefathers and foremothers faced while building a better America. There was a time in this country when child labor was the norm and the 40-hour work week inconceivable. There was a time when the government would send armed thugs to beat up and sometimes murder Americans simply for trying to organize their workplace. Because of the work of millions, those dark days are behind us and America is a better place for it. Every generation faces new battles. Every generation is put to the test to make America better. Our challenge today is to rebuild the American middle class.
