Happy Mario Day!!! Yes, today, March 10, is Mario Day! It gets its name from the shortened form of March (i.e., Mar) then adding the numbered date (i.e., 10). Concatenate these together and you get Mar10 or Mario! It is hard to identify the origin of this day. One version has it originated some 50 years ago when a person named Mario noticed that March 10 was often shortened to Mar 10 on expiration tags. A group of Marios got together and began the celebration. Another version says it originated in the early 80s when an unknown gamer who loved Super Mario learned that that March 10 was abbreviated to Mar 10. In any case, Mario Day was launched. More recently, Mario day is celebrated mostly by the upwards of 210 million Super Mario fans, but there are people named Mario who also celebrate it. Tell all of the Marios you know Happy Mario Day!
