Happy Memorial Day to all: Many people confuse Memorial Day and Veterans Day. Memorial Day is a day for remembering and honoring military personnel who died in the service of their country, particularly those who died in battle or as a result of wounds sustained in battle. While those who died are also remembered on Veterans Day, Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor ALL those who served honorably in the military - in wartime or peacetime. That being said, if I could see the old salts of the sea, the grunts of the land battles (Army & Marines), and those equally high flyers from the Air Force, I would thank them for the sacrifice they did for all those alive today. Yes I served (20+yrs) as a time honored tradition of volunteering in the military and I, like many others get to reap the benefits of the sacrifices of those who went before me. Those who gave the ultimate sacrifice paved the way for the rest of us to be able to do the jobs we can do now, stand by our families and enjoy the peace of mind. Remember that May is military appreciation month; a time when we look to the past and honor the men and women of the Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, and even the Coast Guard), their families and all Veterans for the sacrifices they’ve made on our behalf. We have come together when it was most important, setting aside all social and political discourses, to say a heartfelt thank you to those that have past away and to their families for enduring the loss. On this Memorial Day, I say THANK YOU” to those who lost their lives or were wounded in service for the just cause of peace and freedom at home, I say “THANK YOU” to the millions of service members and families for the selfless sacrifices you have made for the freedoms we endure; and offer a “debt of gratitude” to those who helped in times of conflict, national and foreign crises and natural disasters at home and abroad, your support is very much appreciated. Thank you for all that and more VETERANS of the past, you are truly missed! Blessed Memorial Day to all as you enjoy your BBQs and days off, remember they helped provide this for you!!
