Happy Monday everyone. Kinda hard to get back into the swing of things after the holidays. Must still be in a sugar coma! Here are the report highlights from Sunday/Monday here in Helena: 1/2/15 @ 12:01pm An officer returned a phone call to a person regarding the theft of a part off a vehicle while parked at St. Peters Hospital. 1/3/15 @ 8:33am Officers responded to a residence in the 100 blk of North Ewing concerning a female in a mental health crisis. Officers located the female and transported by an officer to the hospital for treatment. 1/4/15 @ 2:06am An officer made a traffic stop on a vehicle parked in the roadway near Broadway and Park Avenue. After investigation, the officer arrested the driver, Bradley Richard Gretch (21 yrs of age, Helena) for Driving Under the Influence (1st offense) and another traffic violation. He was booked at the detention center. 1/3/15 @ 9:53pm An officer spoke with a female who reported her wallet stolen or lost and an attempt made to use one of her stolen/lost credit cards at a local business. The investigation is continuing while the officer attempts to obtain video of the person attempting to fraudulently use the credit card. 1/3/15 @ 7:41pm Officers responded to an injury traffic crash at Euclid and Madison Streets. An unknown vehicle made a left turn in front of traffic into the Lundy Center parking lot, causing on-coming traffic to brake quickly, resulting in one vehicle rear-ending another. A passenger in one vehicle was transported to St. Peters Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries and the driver of the third vehicle was cited for following too closely. 1/3/15 @ 4:52pm An officer took a report from Dominoes Pizza regarding the theft of food during an attempted delivery at the Guardian Apartments at 520 Logan. The officer located and cited Lance Wilburn Allen (36 yrs of age, Helena) for misdemeanor Theft for taking a 2 liter bottle of soda from the delivery driver without paying. He was cited and released. 1/3/15 @ 11:02pm An officer took a report of a stolen vehicle from the area of the 800 blk of North Cooke. The victim stated he had left his vehicle running, warming it up due to the cold, and returned to his house. When he came back outside, the vehicle was gone. The car was described as a tan 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis, Montana license BBY779. 12/31/14 @ 2:25pm An officer met with a victim concerning the theft of the hard drive from her laptop while an acquaintance was working on it. The officer located and cited Frank Michael Mecca (25yrs of age, Helena) with misdemeanor theft. The hard drive has not been recovered. 1/3/15 @ 12:38pm Officers were called to the area of Starbucks on Prospect Avenue concerning a disturbance between a male and a female. An officer located the vehicle involved in the disturbance in the Capitol Hill Mall parking lot. After an investigation, the officer arrested Michael John Staley (38 yrs of age, Helena) for two Helena Municipal Court warrants, in addition to operating the vehicle while his license is suspended/revoked and while being designated a habitual traffic offender. Staley was booked at the detention center. 1/2/15 @ 9:35pm Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 400 blk of Raymond concerning a disturbance. Officers eventually identified Grant Marshall Kopp (34 yrs of age, Helena) and located a valid warrant for his arrest. Kopp initially provided false information to officers about his identity, so when arrested for the warrant, he was also charged with Obstructing a Peace Officer. He was booked at the detention center. 1/3/15 @ 5:19pm An officer responded to a residence in the 700 blk of North Fee concerning a female who was feeling suicidal. The officer located the female, placed her into protective custody and transported her to the hospital for treatment/evaluation. 1/2/15 @ 1:10pm An off-duty officer reporting witnessing an altercation between a male and female in the parking lot of the Lundy Center on Euclid Avenue. Officers later located the male and female involved at a residence in the 300 blk of W. Lawrence and subsequently arrested Jeremy Daniel Kelsey (34 yrs of age, Helena) for Partner or Family Member Assault and for Driving with a Suspended/Revoked Drivers License. Kelsey was booked at the detention center. 1/4/15 @ 8:44pm An officer was called to check the welfare of an apparently intoxicated pedestrian walking in the area of the 200 blk of South Montana. The officer located the male, identified as Trevor Lee Wiseman (42 yrs of age, Helena). The officer determined Wiseman had absconded from his probation supervision and placed him under arrest at the direction of the probation and parole officer. Wiseman was booked at the detention center. 1/5/15 @ 12:42am An officer stopped a vehicle near Knight and Benton Avenue for a traffic violation. After further investigation, the officer arrested Nathan Conrad Eckhardt (23 yrs of age, Helena) for DUI (1st offense). He was booked at the detention center. 1/4/15 @ 10:36am An officer was called to Murdochs Ranch and Home concerning a shoplifting. Store employees recognized a female in the store attempting to return merchandise she had stolen from the store the day before. The female left before officers arrived, however she was located and stopped by an officer. The officer cited and released Jessica Justine Mendoza-Casillas (28yrs of age) for misdemeanor theft. A pair of jeans valued at $128.00 was recovered. 1/2/15 @ 12:10pm An officer was called to Jorgensons Inn concerning an employee theft from the business. It was reported management had terminated an employee after discovering the theft. The case is still under investigation. Stay safe and warm everyone!
