Happy Mother’s Day to every mom from the staff at Blending a Family Ministry. This is also a day we choose to honor every step-mother, foster mother, adoptive mother, and grandmother raising a grandchild! Though you may not be a child’s biological mom, each of you have amazing opportunities to be a positive influence to the children in your life. You have the power to create a place in your heart that each child can cling to. Regardless of whether you are a biological mom or in a mother’s role, a motherly heart is an influencer who provides the following three things for her family: 1. A “nesting instinct” that turns a house into a warm home. The nesting instinct creates that peaceful environment, and your whole family needs that peace. 2. Intuition—a sense about things that serves as a warning for the family. When our children would bring a new friend over, they knew that Paige would get either a “good” or “bad” feeling about their friend. They would cringe in anticipation of the awaited verdict whether she sensed the friend was good for them to hang around. (We all become the company we keep, so we protected our children from bad company. Many children do not have the ability to judge character, so they can get involved with the wrong people quickly.) 3. Spiritual sensitivity—women generally tend to be more spiritually connected than men, (though not in all cases). They tend to give more attention to reverence of God and their prayer time. The Holy Spirit uses that gift in women to get their families through many tough times. Moms, we salute you, and we pray God’s richest blessings to each of you as you give of yourself to enrich and enhance the lives of all the children in your blended family!
