Happy NFL Day, Bevyville! 34 years ago, on Friday Sept 5 1980 I was waayy pregnant. Mini contractions began that afternoon signalling the onset of labor. On Saturday Sept 6th, hubby and I went to the laundromat with me pausing every few minutes or so to do the breathing Id been taught in the Lamaze class wed taken. I knew it was too early to go to the hospital so I went on about my day. Took a nap, came downstairs and found hubby had rearranged every piece of furniture in the house - can you say anxious??? LOL He was a mess. So Sunday, Sept 7 it was the opening day of the NFL just as it is today and hubby was wondering when I planned to go to the hospital?!! Contractions were coming hot and heavy by then - but its the first day of the season!! I knew they werent going to have the game on in the delivery room - so I watched the first game - saw my Lions beat the LA Rams. Watched the first half of the second game - took a shower and said, OK. Lets go. The daughter was born about an hour later and she is so much of a football fan I had to make her shut down her own betting pool when she was in the 4th grade. (Told her she was too young to be a bookie and to give the boys back the money theyd lost to her.) So anyway, happy 34th to the Divine Ms. M. Shes everything a mama could ever wish for in a daughter. Happy Birthday baby-girl!!!
