Happy National Homemade Bread Day! #foodholidays One of my favorite things to do is make bread, Im a baker at heart. I love the alluring scent of yeast dough rising, and the deliciousness of eating something that I created with my own hands. In honor of national homemade bread day, heres my favorite sandwich bread recipe... Sandwich Bread Ingredients 2 1/2 cup A/P Flour 1/2 cup Cake Flour 1/2 cup Milk 2/3 cup Hot Water 4 tablespoon Butter, melted 2 tablespoon Sugar 1 1/4 teaspoon Salt 1 tablespoon Active Dry Yeast mixed with 1 Tablespoon Warm Water (75-80°f) Steps 1. Mix together the milk and water. Sift together the two flours. Mix flour and water together and let sit 20-30 min to autolyze. 2. Mix together the remaining ingredients in mixing bowl with dough hook attachment 3. Add the flour/water mixture and combine till smooth. 4. Knead dough till smooth and elastic, about 5-10 min. Sprinkle a little flour if too sticky (dough should be a bit sticky though) or a little water if to dry during the kneading process. 5. Place dough in a lightly greased bowl (bigger than double the size of dough) loosely covered with a kitchen towel. Let rise in a warm place till doubled in size, about 1-2 hours. 6. After rising, shape dough into 8 inch log and place into a lightly greased 8 1/2 inch loaf pan. 7. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rise in a warm place till dough has risen about an inch out of the pan, about 1 hour. 8. Pre-heat oven to 350°f. 9. Bake bread for 30-35 minutes until golden brown. Bread should sound hollow when tapped and be at about 180° f-190°f internal temp. 10. Cool completely before cutting. Store in a Ziploc bag our container when cool.
