Happy New Year, world. :) This year: I shall devote myself to my professional work even more, challenge myself to become even more disciplined about citations and style. I will continue to be passionate about what I do, and feel no regret about enthusing over the intellectual joy of fighting to help restore identity to those whom historical injustice rendered mute. I shall dedicate my spare time such as it is to letting my creative wings unfurl yet more, savouring the vivid images that adorn my mind, and working to shape them into a shareable form with friends and loved ones. I shall take time despite these two driving passions in my world. I shall take TIME. Time to get out of my chair, put down the pen, set aside the papers or the keyboard or the tablet or the sketchpad, and belly-flop with Cai into his tent. Time to tickle him and get huge aaaah! kisses from him. Time to build his wooden railway and then wave bits around in time to a rhythm he alone can hear. Time to wrap my arms around the man I love and kiss his cheek. Time to make great food for us, and time to enjoy it. Time to connect with friends online and in the real world. Time to make Moroccan cookies for my family, and time to sip my latte. Its not easy to juggle a profession I cherish and adore, a hobby that consumes me in pictures and shapes I find myself needing to articulate, and family and friends I love to my marrow. But anything worthwhile is worth doing, and I dont intend to stint on any of these things.
