Happy Saturday afternoon, a little update on Guatemala :) We arrived home yesterday Friday early evening for our flight had been delayed and took us longer to fly home. We were anxious to get home after our beautiful missions trip to Guatemala. We were asked by Karen Resler Wilson our missionary hostess, what was our favorite part of the missions trip. It was interesting how we all had different answers. We built a house for a very special mother and her four children. They lived so primitive compared to how we live, but they were very proud of what they had, and very clean. Her children were beautiful and so untouched by material things like our children in the states. These children were just excited to have a balloon to play with. The youngest little girl had a wheel barrel and had made it up like a stroller or bed and put her babies (little toys I believe) and was taking such good care of them like any mother would do. You could see the hardship in this mothers eyes for her husband had left her with no means of support and homeless. the man who owned this property allowed her to have her house built there..We finished the house and put her new furnishings in it (beds, tables, chairs and hutch) we could tell she was so overwhelmed. Her beautiful house had a door and two small windows. I fell in love with her oldest daughter Vilma for she had such beauty in her eyes when she smiled. We then fed them a snack and dedicated the home to the Lord ( memory moment ). We went and ministered (blessed) the seniors in the village a government facility for some of these seniors had no families or food. CeCe and Vivian (one of the interpreters) sang a spanish song to them and we all did crafts and took their pictures of them to keep. Cece Gordon, Pastor Larry Conner and I, the senior ladies grabbed us and we all danced a Guatemalan dance. It was so much fun and joyful for they were the sweetest and most loving people I have never had so many hugs or kisses at one time the Lord is breaking me in LOL (for those who know me lol). My heart is still overwhelmed by there love. I will forever be touched by these seniors. As we were leaving they were following us out the door to hug and say goodbye. One little lady named Esperanza stopped me and said You no go to United states, but you stay with me. She was a beautiful soul. We went street witnessing and that was awesome to much to tell, one man excepted the Lord and we used payday candy bars to start out our witnessing (Karens daughter idea). The Guatemalans love American candy. We went to two of the schools and blessed the children with Rover overcomer, a big Dog costume and Cece gave a lesson on David and goliath, we did a craft with them and we took their pictures (Polaroid) as well with Rover Overcomer, they loved his ears. This was on a Wednesday and on Wednesdays, it is childrens day in Guatemala so Harry and Karen did piñata with all the children. They all smiled so much. Our Pastors had some perching time at night at a couple of Churches and Bible school. I even was able to minister to a womens group with an interpreter. Ladies we are so spoiled in our country. I am reminded about this scripture found in Luke 10-2; New International Version He told them, The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field. There was so much that took place that I would be writing all day:) I have such a appreciation for The Wilsons family and ministry they are doing in Guatemala. Missionaries give up a lot of material things but the rewards like we saw out does anything material thing. We all have love inside of us and for some we cannot go to another country but we all have a mission filed right where we live. So go to your nursing homes. schools, streets and be that light for Jesus. Please make sure you know you are called to some of those rougher areas of your town, and if not have someone who knows the areas. Lets all make a difference in this world and trust me you will see your life change and others. If you would like to help support what the Wilsons are doing in Guatemala here is a link to there ministry. harrywilsonministries.org/
