Happy St Ignatius of Loyola day! Since I am an army brat, I was received through the Military Ordinariate in the Military Cathedral of St Ignatius of Loyola. Thus Ignatius is my patron saint. There used to be a bas relief there of showing the wounded and fallen Ignatius with the command to go forward without counting the cost Ad Maiorem Dei Gloriam! Too bad, when they enlarged the cathedral, the bas relief was removed. The arms of the Military Ordinariate has the sword of Ignatius in its achievement. COLLECT for St Ignatius of Loyola, Patron Saint of Soldiers and their families and the Philippine Army O God, who raised up Saint Ignatius of Loyola in your Church to further the greater glory of your name, grant that by his help we may imitate him in fighting the good fight on earth and merit to receive with him a crown in heaven. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
