Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I generally dont do these kinds of things, but I feel its useful for us to count our blessings. In my 41 years, I have so many. Im thankful for family. In whatever form that takes (family is often not bound by blood, relation, or even limits of time). I could never have been a different person without family. I can never express my thanks for those that have trusted me, guided me, given me the chance to be better or do more. It is in these many opportunities that I am able to consider myself any sort of success. I dont want to single anyone out, but there too many to mention. People are sometimes in our lives for a short time, but often the impact of their love, trust, strength, and support is felt long after they have left us. Im so thankful for the simplest qualities in life (and the ability to express them at will). Were all so blessed with grace, patience, positivity, intuition, interest, curiosity, love, and acceptance. I still feel joy in discovering these qualities in the worst of us. Were all complex creatures, and every day is a reminder of how we can all do more. I am thankful for those who dont help. Through you (and you know who you are), I am forced to find other ways, find answers in places I didnt think to look, and find a better version of myself where none existed. Im reminded by a phrase in Portuguese (thank you Amália) : Se você não tem coragem, não adianta ter vontade. I dont totally understand what that means, but to me, the phrase is trying to say that it doesnt matter if you have will or intention if you dont have the courage to use it. In our most important and solitary moments, I am thankful for when I have the will to face a challenge, and the courage to act on it. Were all a work in progress, and Im thankful for all of you that try to be better every day.
