Happy Veterans Day to my brother Matthew Brady. Still standing tall today. Here is the bio of a true veteran. CSM Matthew T. Brady Command Sergeant Major, Warrior Transition Command (WTC) CSM Matthew T. Brady assumed responsibilities as the Warrior Transition Command Sergeant Major on March 28, 2014. He previously served in the same role at Madigan Army Medical Center, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., and William Beaumont Army Medical Center, Fort Bliss, Texas. A native of Rapid City, S.D, he enlisted in the South Dakota National Guard in 1982 and attended basic training at Fort Dix, N. J., and engineer training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. He later attended combat medic training at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He graduated from the University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Services Administration and then went on active duty in 1987. He completed his Masters of Science in Health Service Administration in 2013. CSM Brady has served at all levels, from a company medic for an armor battalion to his assignments as Western Regional Medical Command Operations Sergeant Major and Weed Army Community Hospital Command Sergeant Major. Additional assignments include 2/72 Armor Battalion, Camp Casey, Korea; Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas; 45th Forward Support Battalion, Gelnhausen, Germany; 704th Main Support Battalion, Fort Carson, Colo.; 232nd Medical Battalion, Fort Sam Houston, Texas; U.S. Army Health Clinic, Fort Greely, Ala.; 2/347th Regiment, Fort Gordon, Ga., 62nd Medical Brigade, 520th Area Support Medical Company and Western Regional Medical Command, Fort Lewis, Wash. He served in Operation Desert Shield/Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. His military education includes the United States Army Sergeants Major Academy, Class 55. Additionally, he attended the Staff and Faculty Development Course and the Battle Staff NCO Course. His awards and decorations include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with oak leaf cluster, Meritorious Service Medal with five oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Good Conduct Medal, 9th award, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, 2nd award, Southwest Asia Service Medal with three bronze stars, Operation Iraqi Freedom Medal with two bronze stars, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Liberation of Kuwait Medal (SA), Liberation of Kuwait Medal (Kuwait), Combat Medical Badge, Expert Field Medical Badge, Air Assault Badge and Driver & Mechanics Badge (Wheel & Track). He has also been awarded the Army Valorous Unit Award, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, plus the Army Superior Unit Award. CSM Brady is a recipient of the Army Medical Department’s Order of Military Medical Merit and is an honorary Sergeant Audie Murphy Club member.
