Happy Wednesday and welcome back to Lena & Johns Really Rockin Reading! Today we are thrilled to have at our reading table Lady ELLA FITZGERALD and FRANK ZAPPA! Lena: This is a great pairing. These two are already scatting with one another. (They are, theyve actually been scat-singing together since early morning.) ELLA: Well, this boy SWINGS, honey! ZAPPA: Ahhh! Get over yourself, Ella! ELLA: I dont know how you mean! (both laugh) John: I dont know how he means that, either! Why would she need to get over herself? Shes complimenting YOU, not herSELF! ZAPPA: Listen, if were going to be splitting hairs here... Lena: We didnt even shuffle yet! ZAPPA: … Ill shuffle off to BUFFALO! John: Franks feeling feisty. I think were all in trouble. (all laugh) Lena: Well, Im gonna grab my deck so just sit tight. ZAPPA: Where on EARTH would we even think of going besides right here today? (10 minutes later, Lena returns with the cards) ZAPPA: So she goes to “grab her cards” and starts working on a painting and just leaves us all sitting here. Lena: Oh, come on, Frank! I just put a few dabs on it... ZAPPA: Were wood, I guess. An afterthought. John: DRAMA! READING TABLE DRAMA! Lena: Yes, youre wood. Oh, please. ELLA: (laughing) Lets get started! 10 of SWORDS! Lena: I drew this card yesterday, I think? The EXHAUSTION card?! But I dont feel exhausted today! John: Thats because THIS time I think were to take it to mean that the exhaustion is behind us. Followed by the Three of Pentacles, indicates that everyone is behaving themselves and following their paths, their “life blueprints”, as it were. FRANK: FOUR of PENTACLES. Some people are feeling a little “grabby”. John: I feel grabby, funny you should say! FRANK: I feel more gabby than grabby, actually. ELLA: So, grabbing at what? Money? Prestige? John: Ass? Lena: (laughing) JESUS. Okay, THE WORLD is next. And this means we have the WORLD ON A STRING, I think. I feel very hopeful today. Just a hopeful vibe, like things are coming together. John and Frank: (singing in unison) COME TOGETHER! RIGHT NOW! OVER ME! ELLA: Four of Pentacles seems to corroborate that hopeful vibe. I feel dishy. I feel FRIENDLY! FRANK: You ARE friendly, Ella! ELLA: I KNOW it, child! FRANK: SIX of CUPS is actually THE FRIENDSHIP card! So that clinches it. Friendliness abounding. John: THE FOOL would indicate... FRANK: Arent YOU “the fool”, John? The fool on the hill? John: No, that was Paul. FRANK: Oh. Are you sure? John: Youre actually questioning me on this? I believe this would make YOU the fool. ELLA: Easy, now... Lena: See how quickly the worm turns? John: THE WORM IS TURNING! STAY TUNED FOR MORE EPISODES OF “AS THE WORM TURNS!” Lena: This is getting out of control. FRANK: Only two more cards to go, and theyre both KINGS. Pentacles and Wands! John: How on EARTH are we expected to wrap this up with only TWO CARDS LEFT? Lena: We agreed on 9 cards, Johnny! You want more cards? John: No, no. Im ready for a nap. ELLA: A NAP?!?! FRANK: Nap, my ass. John: Nap your own ass. Or better yet, take a nappa, Zappa! FRANK: Hey, youre pretty clever! Im figuring out why they always called you “The Witty One”! Lena: I thought he was “The Cute One.” (winks at John) ELLA: No, that was Paul, too. But John is a very handsome boy. John: (bowing) I STAND BEFORE YOU, HUMBLE and HANDSOME, BOTH. Lena: So what do we have to say about the two kings here? FRANK: Wands is John and Pentacles is me and together we work in harmony! ELLA: Yes, HARMONY in the air! And no offense, gentlemen, but the KING cards always mean our Lord God to me, so I will just go out on a limb here and say that to wrap up this reading, we should all consider ourselves graced and BLESSED!
