Happy thanksgiving everyone. We just got done eating and cleaning up. Our first non family thanksgiving was a full on success...with the bit of a sting in my heart being so far from family. It was a team effort from the three of us. I cooked a 14 pound turkey, that I brined for 14 hours. I was very happy with the way it turned out, being my first unaided turke. It was fully moist and flavorful In every little crevice of the turkey, and a golden brown exterior. I also made the cornbread stuffing, pumpkin pie from scratch, and the whipped cream. Hannah rocked out a fruit plate and the green bean casserole...she was also a good runner for ingredients and tools. And Coleen made some oven roasted sliced yams, Brussels, and a salad with figs. We were joined by Coleens cousin Veronica, who brought some more wine (to add to our stash), and some chocolate and peanut butter brownies. All in all it was fantastic...but I do very much miss all of you that I didnt get to share my favorite Holliday with (although Christmas is a very strong competitor).
