Hard Work Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men. Ephesians 6:7 Since God was the first employer in the universe, His Word has a lot to say about the responsibilities and rewards of hard work. Servants, respectfully obey your earthly masters but always with an eye to obeying the real master, Christ. Dont just do what you have to do to get by, but work heartily, as Christs servants doing what God wants you to do. And work with a smile on your face, always keeping in mind that no matter who happens to be giving the orders, youre really serving God... Masters, its the same with you. No abuse, please, and no threats. You and your servants are both under the same Master in heaven. He makes no distinction between you and them (vv. 5-9 TM). If youre the boss, Andrew Carnegie offers the following insights: 1) Organise. Always make sure you have the right person in the right slot. 2) Deputise. Dont micro-manage. Give a man or woman full authority to do the job you hired them to do, then give them the freedom to do it. 3) Supervise. You dont get what you expect; you get what you inspect. 4) Recognise.
