Hard to believe than 10 years ago this week, Ben and I lost our home to Hurricane Frances and Jeanne. This event gave my friend Wendy some great writing material and some great stories and phrases that my family still just howls over. In other words, funny memories in the midst of all the craziness. And it was ten years ago today that these famous words were uttered by my mother to my father as the water was leaking through the house and the ceiling panels were falling and roof was being peeled off the house one shingle at a time: Go ahead Douglas, make my day...if youre man enough. It is also hard to believe that 7 years ago today I lost my dad. Thinking that yesterday was the 4th I did all my commiserating yesterday. However, there were some funny things that came out of that too - Ill refrain from posting - plus all the great memories that we all have of Big Guy. This made me realize that humor and good memories really do help and even in all the craziness and sadness, if you can find a good memory or moment of happiness it will help soothe the aches of grief and loss.
