Harley: Happy to have tourists Dave Rank / Daily News Staff Entertaining HOGs Harley-Davidson Inc. is keeping its official 110th Anniversary Celebration activities centered on Milwaukee’s Summerfest Grounds, but Harley tourists spending their nights in Washington County won’t miss out on entertainment. Here’s a list of local activities planned for the extended Labor Day weekend, Aug. 29-Sept. 1: ■ West Bend Harley-Davidson holds its 110th Anniversary Celebration the afternoon and evening of Aug. 29, with live music, food, beverages and a 50/50 raffle. ■ Downtown West Bend Association has scheduled Hog Wild on Main for the evening of Aug. 30, with live music, food and beverages. ■ Washington County Fair Park offers its campers live music by local artists and drinks each night during the Harley anniversary, which will be opened to the public for a fee. The American Legion will offer breakfast for campers at Fair Park, also. ■ Both Timber Trail and Lazy Days campgrounds plan nightly live music for their campers during the weekend. “I will be at 100 percent capacity,” Timber Trail owner Brent Lange said. “We’ve had a lot of calls from around the country for the Harley fest. I still have a couple sites left, but I will be full.” Lazy Days has 177 sites available for daily rentals, store manager Bonnie Frymark said. “We’ve got about 30 sites left for the HOG rally and that’s about it. Most of them are coming with motor homes.” Harley Owners Group is Harley-Davidson’s official customer club. “We’re receiving our share of bookings,” Lake Lenwood Beach & Campground owner Mike Dricken said about Labor Day weekend. The Washington County Fair Park is booking HOG riders as well, said Sandy Lang, executive director of the Washington County Agriculture and Industrial Society said. The nonprofit AIS manages Fair Park for the county. So far, Fair Park has booked 200 campers for Harley’s anniversary, both tent and recreational vehicles, Lang said. “We’re getting reservations. We’re averaging about 10 calls a week and they’re calling from all over the U.S.” Fair Park could accommodate about 1,000 campers, but Lang would be happy with 250. “If we sell a quarter of the sites, that would be a break-even point,” she said. “I’m confident we’ll break even.” In 2003, Washington County Fair Park hosted the official four-day Harley HOG 20th anniversary event, and residual memory of that is bringing Harley riders back, Lang said. “We had so many people who said they want to be out of Milwaukee,” she said. “It’s going to bring in good money to the county.” “We’re averaging about 10 calls a week and they’re calling from all over the U.S.” Sandy Lang Washington County Agriculture and Industrial Society executive director
