Harold Beaumont Mr Harold Beaumont A Funeral you will never see the like of again why because he was born on Hessle Rd went to school on Hessle Rd lived on Hessle Rd went to sea on Trawlers out of St Andrews Dock, He was a Fisherman of the Old Breed no gutting under shelter wet and freezing most of the time no showers a couple of baths running home and you had to pump the water into it and warm it up with a steam pipe . Hull, At one point in History known as the Greatest Fishing Port in the World Our Fishermen explored and opened up most of the fishing Grounds in the World, We are a breed apart that is being consigned to History We are more like a Race of unique people we have our own language, our own superstitions and rituals. We are Fishermen from the port of Hull known the World over as Grafters and innovators “ if it cannot be done a Fisherman will find a way “ we never gave in , There are a few old salts knocking around now who will not let go of the wheel, that is what true Fishermen are Tenacious. This is not just about the passing of Harold it is about the passing of a Breed of Men you will never see the like of again, We are being consigned to History and our/ your Heritage is being destroyed by Private enterprise. We should all ( not just the HBMG ) write ,ring , send an e-mail to our local MP’s Counsellors Government to let them know the People of this Great City have had enough. Only just recently another parcel of St Andrews Dock as been sold for Millions, Not one penny for our Heritage we deserve better our children and grand children deserve better Hull deserves better WE are worth more than we are getting give it a voice now because soon there will be none of the Old Breed left Have we done enough for our once great Fishing Port NO and we should before we all ( Leave The Room )
