Hate only begets hate. This video speaks volumes about the ignorance even our people spew onto others. Its time to stop playing the victim and start trying to rise above our own ignorance. Weve used them as an excuse for far too long. Our inner views of racism and inequalities is whats binding us as a people. Not every White person is a racist just like not every Native is a drunk. If you give people the same benefit of the doubt that you expect what have you overcome? What message does that send to your children and the people surrounding you? It shows them how to have love and compassion in their heart rather than to walk with bitterness and a chip on their shoulder. My Grandfather was a White man and the most kind and loving man Ive ever met. He married an Ojibwe woman and embraced everything about her. There is ALWAYS an exception to the rule. BE that exception and look past the color of someones skin. Its the year 2014. Are we going to teach our children the debilitating attributes of a racist? Or are we going to teach them the love, kindness and respect that our Ancestors and Aatsookahn have shown us is the natural way of our people? To treat EVERY spirit with respect? *Food for thought on your Friday morning.
