Have A Blast Giving Your Life Away January 30, 2014 Read: Proverbs 19:17 Generosity is from the Lord. It is not accidental. Jesus came to earth and gave Himself so we might live, enduring the cross for the joy set before him (Hebrews 12:2). Any time we imitate Him, we honor the sacrifice He made, and we experience that same joy. When talking to His disciples about the end of time, Jesus said He would separate people like sheep and goats, believers to one side and unbelievers to another. Those who believed in Him and lived according to their belief would be rewarded with “eternal life,” and those who didnt would receive “eternal punishment” (Matthew 25:46). The example Jesus used that distinguished His followers from others was whether or not they were kind to the poor (Matthew 25:35-36, 40). Elsewhere Jesus said, Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:3). Whether we are poor financially or lacking in any good thing, our needs can only be met by our Creator. When we respond in faith to another persons need, we act as Jesuss ambassador. God rewards those who seek Him (Hebrews 11:6b). Let us seek to care about the things He cares about.
