Have some questions for those of you have a central AC. If you have one or more spare bedroom that you rarely go into, do you close off the ceiling vents during the summer months when you run your AC? Will doing so cause any problems in those rooms, such as humidity getting so high in those rooms that it causes mildew or mold in the carpet, etc.? Does it lower you electric bill during summer months? Today, the day time high got up to 94 degrees. I want to find some ways to lower my electric bill from June through September. I keep my thermostat at 72. Raising it is not an option because my dogs will start panting all night if I do. I am trying find other ways to lower my electric bill. I am thus wondering if closing the AC vents in rooms rarely used will make a difference. Thanks.
