Have you ever given truth a thought and what influence it has on - TopicsExpress

Have you ever given truth a thought and what influence it has on your life? The only way to be eternally relevant is to build your life on eternal truths that don’t change. But how do you learn the truth? My answer would be: study the Word, but you also need to be able to discern what is false if you want to build a strong biblical worldview. 1 John 4:1 we read: “Don’t believe everything you hear. Not everyone who talks about God comes from God. There are a lot of false preachers loose in the world.” Truth is not truth unless it meets Gods definition of truth; anything less is deception because Truth has its origin in God. In fact, in John 14:6 Jesus states that He is the truth. In other words, truth is the very fabric of His being and defines who He is. He cannot lie because that is completely out of His character. On the other hand, satan is described as the father of all lies (John 8:44). His mission is to steal, kill, and destroy and to counterfeit every blessing and promise God has for your life (John 10:10). In order to avoid the enemys pitfalls, you need to earnestly seek truth. Prov.23:23 says, Buy the truth, and dont sell it. Though seeking truth may involve some sacrifices, it is the most worthwhile pursuit you can embark on because once obtained, it is one of your most valuable assets. Ask God each day to lead you in all truth and remember to put on the belt of truth mentioned in Eph. 6:14. By trying to walk in truth, God will help keep you from being deceived and led astray by the devils tactics. David writes in Ps.51:6 that God desires truth in the inmost part. Therefore, truth must first take root in your heart before it can flow into the lives of others. Jesus said, Out of the overflow of the heart the mouth speaks (Matt.12:34). If you fill your heart with truth by reading Gods Word on a daily basis and praying for His wisdom, when you encounter a compromising position you will be able to respond justly and honestly because you have trained yourself to distinguish good from evil. Truth is the only sure foundation on which to build your life, because it is the only stable force capable of withstanding the pressures of this world. Operating in a spirit of deception always leads to disappointment and destruction, whereas living a life of truth produces peace, purpose, and fulfillment. Ask God today to shine forth His light of truth and to reveal the areas in your life that you are not fully acknowledging His life-giving truth. Then allow the Lord to make you a vessel for sharing His truth with a lost and dying world.
