Have you ever heard the nats saying, on an almost constant basis that the people of Scotland will decide?. Is that so?: 1. Will we have a say on EU membership? - No, Alex Salmond is not proposing a referendum on it 2. Will we decide what currency we will use? - No, again Alex Salmond will not allow us to vote on that matter 3. Will we have a choice on state sponsored guardianship? - No, again Salmond says this is in the best interests of Scotland 4. Will we have any say over a future constitution? No, Sturgeon is already making one up for her and her party 5. We will be able to decide whether we actually want to retain Faslane or not? - No, Salmond does not intend to give us that choice 6. Will we decide what money any tax revenue is spend on? - Of course not, only the Scottish government does that 7. Will we be able to decide if we want police to carry guns on patrol? - Of course not. In America where they have a constitutional right to carry arms we have no such right to decide if we want our police to carry them 8. Will we get to decide what taxes we want to pay? - Of course not. Only government spending plans, which we have no control over, will dictate that 9. Will we get to decide what economic model we wish to use ? - Of course not, Salmond will decide what model fits the policy of his government 10. Will we get to decide whether we want windmills dotted all over the landscape ? - Of course not. Again, Salmond says we need to focus more on wind power because he says so Seems to me that while the nationalists are trying to convince themselves that THEY would get to decide how Scotland evolves if it became independent. Of course, we all know this is nonsense. We would have no say over any of the above. Seems to me that voting for independence is as much about voting for issues we are not allowed a say on as it is about accepting the word of the SNP. Sorry but that is not democracy at all. That is compliance to a nationalist dictatorship. So will the people of Scotland really have a voice? Or course not, the current Scottish dictatorship that predominates in Holyrood already refuses to accept external criticism or evidence that is contrary to their white paper. They simply do not wish to listen to an alternative point of view. They want it THEIR WAY, ALL THE TIME. Scotland will not be more democratic under independence; it will simply become more power hungry and self centered. I choose not to live in that sort of democracy: what about you?
