Have you invited your local political candidates to a vegan - TopicsExpress

Have you invited your local political candidates to a vegan potluck? The elections are on September 20th, so make sure you try and influence them soon! Remember, they work for *us*. They wanna rule Invercargill? They gotta kiss the INVSOC ring, the highly coveted Vegan Vote could decide the fate of the city! Theyve got to charm the heck out of us, we ~40 eligible Vegan voters :-) Our main three candidates would love to, are keen and glad to attend our evil vegan lobbyist night :-). It will be informal, theyve been asked to stand at the podium and tell how THEY are the most animal loving candidate for Invercargill! Theyve all got different strengths too - the Green is a personal friend, long time vegetarian who adopted 3 Otago farm rescue hens from us recently. BUT, the Labour candidate wanted it known she takes in unloved hens from the local egg farm too! And the Nat shares a mutual friend who cares for ex-farmed animals. Shes glad to share childhood animal stories too! Heres a sample letter I sent around the local candidates. I hope youll try and pitch yours against one another too :-) Good afternoon, We would love if you would attend our Invercargill Vegan Society political dinner next month. We hope the local Invercargill candidates will try and win the vegan vote by sharing their love of animals :-). Vegans live without using, harming or killing animals. We do not wear their skin, eat their flesh, drink cows milk, go to animal circuses etc. But we DO try our best to be a powerful voting bloc, to vote for political candidates with the most charming stories of animal friendship and respect! :-) Our next Invercargill Vegan Society potluck will be in August, held at the Invercargill Public Library. 20-40 people are likely to attend, bringing a vegan dish to share. You can see photos from our last vegan potluck here: invsoc.org.nz/july2014/ We would love if you would join our great political potluck, date to be confirmed in coming weeks. Before we start our feast, it would be fun to have our local candidates share a short, informal anecdote about animals, about why we as vegan animal activists should vote for you :-) While the local Green candidate Dave Kennedy is vegetarian and helped us rescue 3 hens ( invsoc.org.nz/janegoodall ), we are quite open to hearing about your favourite childhood animal, and being persuaded that YOU are the most animal-loving local candidate! :-) Thank you for your time, Jordan Wyatt Invercargill Vegan Society all animals are equal
