Have you seen the blue stuff sprayed all around the lake over the - TopicsExpress

Have you seen the blue stuff sprayed all around the lake over the past several days? That blue stuff is a dye indicator called Blazon that gets mixed with other chemicals to provide a marker that an area has been sprayed and that equipment is properly functioning and spraying evenly. The Blazon, according to John Jenkins of the Parks Department, was mixed with a chemical similar to Round Up called Rodeo. Heather Rinaldi, Could you tell us in comments about the active ingredients in Rodeo when you have some time? As you are well aware, there were high winds earlier in the week until the little rain event came through Thursday night. The MSDS label for Rodeo has serious inhalation warnings for this chemical as well as topical exposure warnings. There are no public notices of the MSDS warnings posted at the lake, and you can see that this chemical is sprayed around play areas, picnic tables, the ball fields just a few hours before it was covered with children. It is Easter weekend, and the lake play and eating and walking areas are covered with chemicals and no public notice. John Jenkins refused to investigate the spraying during high winds and leaves it up to us to provide evidence of high wind spraying. Why? Well, Im off on a little tangent here, but there was an important meeting at the Winfrey Point building, and they wanted the area to look spiffy. Ted Barker, What was the organization meeting at Winfrey Point? And its a non-profit organization with some eyebrow-raising names, right? Back to safe access. Jenkins admitted there are training and compliance issues at play, but he would not tell me how those problems will be corrected or what disciplinary actions will be applied. We as lovers of the lake are left with no control over a safety situation in this case. If anyone can put me in touch with a city that manages parks organically either with natural pre-emergents, vinegar, or good old fashioned weed whackers, I would like to introduce this idea to Jenkins and begin putting pressure on Sheffie Kadane to implement organic management and maintenance to our neighborhood lake.
