Have you seen this? Its funny--I remember seeing one of these maps when I was little and realizing how big Africa was, but later I saw maps that showed it smaller and I thought the later map was correct. The map I saw later showed Greenland as almost as large as Africa and Russia and Alaska as enormous. Food for thought. Whats really interesting is that I used to have a map of the world showing everything flipped as the guy does it in the West Wing Episode on my office door--students used to get really bothered by it. I used it to challenge their world view. Didnt realize the map I saw later was wrong and the earlier one was right.
