Santa Monica - Year Round! - 11 AM – 9 PM (Later On Weekends) History and Leadership The Free Ride’s first route, Hamptons Free Ride, began as an electric shuttle service in East Hampton, NY in 2011. Locals to the area, James Mirras and Alex Esposito sought to relieve the parking issues faced by their hometown. By leveraging their business educations, financial, and consulting work experiences, the two broke the mold and came up with a unique model that quickly took off. Over the years the company has established itself as an expert in the operation of GEM electric vehicles, as well as a reputable advertising company. By building relationships with local operators, municipalities and great brands, the service has grown quickly and effectively. James Mirras and Alex Esposito started the business in their hometown The two grew up near the beaches and in the towns around the area. After East Hampton High School James and Alex went to the University of Florida and Bentley University respectively. At UF James majored in Finance and graduated with honors. Alex studied Economics and Financial markets at Bentley, where he stayed to complete his MBA. Following graduation James began working for a financial company in New York City while Alex set off to work for a large consulting company. Knowing exactly where to start, the East Hampton route was launched in 2011 and quickly became a hit. Since the very first loop, the service hasn’t stopped growing. Additional Hamptons routes were added the next year in Amagansett and Montauk, NY. In Fall 2012 The Free Ride announced that it would be partnering up with Chris and Stacy Dimon (formerly of Spot Rides) to launch, own and operate the Hamptons Free Ride in Southampton. Hamptons Free Ride continues to pursue new opportunities throughout the Hamptons. In 2013 The Free Ride partnered up with Jason Bagley, of Way2Go shuttle, to start the Santa Monica Free Ride. At last, you can catch a free ride on the West coast! The Jersey Shore Free Ride was started in the summer of 2014 with Mike Manley, John Lidestri and Kristina Bannon. The cars operate downtown and at the beach in Asbury Park, NY. In July of 2014 the company teamed up with Sean Fruin, Joe Fiorello and Anthony Sardegna to start the San Diego Free Ride.
