Havent put a a status update up for awhile because honestly its too depressing to describe how much this sucks. I came in to the hospital Sunday morning, with a very painful swollen leg. About a week earlier I had banged it on a very hard sharp metal edge, but the swelling and real pain didnt come till late saturday. After some tests, pain meds, and lots of IV antibiotics I went to surgery wednesday. The surgeon remove a rather large abcess from the front of my lower leg, right on the shin bone. Tests of that mess have shown its a pretty nasty staph infection, but not a resistant strain or MRSA. My antibiotics have been adjusted accordingly. Yesterday had an MRI, the results are good in that the infection has not invaded the bone. Bad part, i need to stay on IV intravenously here, and the nurses are continuing to change the wound dressing. The wound is the tough part and the thing keeping me almost completely bedridden, though walking a little has just today become bearable. Its an open wound about as big around and deep right now as a golfball. It cant be just stitched up, has to heal from the inside out as the swelling goes down. Im probably here till monday, maybe longer, and Ill be off work for who knows how long. Thanks for all your kind comments and support.
