Having become involved in a wonderful initiative - Guys Giving Back - Vancouver - originally started in Toronto by our friend Shawn Garrett - I have been looking at and thinking about the concept of privilege -- the idea that some people are better than others because they have been born into it or come out of some incredible hardship on their own. It then becomes us and them. People become animal rights activists but ignore human rights - because humans have brains and should know better. Well some people dont know better and dont have the resources to get better (easily). Today was a really good day because I got to see what good is being done in the highly marginalized society of the Downtown Eastside. After being inside Insite I wanted to know more so I looked at the Portland Hotel Society site. What came to mind, when watching it, was the film about Harvey Milk. Im impressed and Im sure that you will be if you take the time to watch it. vimeo/72746664
