Having some technical difficulties getting this posted, so lets try again..... Thank you Michelle Motto, for nominating me for the ice bucket challenge. The challenge is meant to bring awareness to ALS disease. This is very timely, as my cousin was recently diagnosed with ALS, so this is very near and dear to my heart. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), often referred to as Lou Gehrigs Disease, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. Motor neurons reach from the brain to the spinal cord and from the spinal cord to the muscles throughout the body. The progressive degeneration of the motor neurons in ALS eventually leads to their death. When the motor neurons die, the ability of the brain to initiate and control muscle movement is lost. With voluntary muscle action progressively affected, patients in the later stages of the disease may become totally paralyzed. I accepted the challenge and now nominate Sharolyn Snyder at Paradise Ranch, Marlene Marlene Brass Dunlap, Sara Souza and Kathryn Zepaltas for the challenge to bring awareness to ALS! You have 24 hours to complete the challenge of the ice bucket, or donate to the ALS association.
