He didnt really trick them, he just created a WiFi network called Guest and saw who was naïve enough to connect to it. And who wouldnt? Every time I travel I connect to dozens or hundreds of open networks. Do I or anyone really know that the Air Harbor WiFi is the real airport connection, or just someones private hotspot. This little trick is easy to pull off and you can capture everything that gets sent/received through your hotspot. Its important for us ALL to be aware of that. I agree with commenter gstoddart, who said Im glad someone is demonstrating what just the metadata really translates into. People have been hoodwinked into thinking this isnt as severe as it really is. Related note: most cell phones these days are set to auto connect to open wifi when ever it sees it to save your data costs, meaning you dont always know when your data is suddenly flowing through someones honeypot network.
