He is Alive! A garden tomb. An unmovable stone. A seemingly impossible situation for a crucified Savior and his heartbroken followers. A stone, by its very definition. . .unbreakable, unmoving, unyielding…permanent. The Savior of the world, his journey seemingly over, buried behind a rock-solid wall. Then, in the blink of an eye, in a meteoric flash, the ground offered up a tiny shiver and the stone—once immovable—rolled away. The King of heaven rose from death to life, and lifted the victor’s flag, an announcement to a watching world that heaven could not—would not—be held back—that love would win the day, that lives, once bound, would be set free. We face life’s stones with heavy hearts. They convince us that our situations are impossible, our hopes unrealistic, our goals unreachable. Can you feel the ground shaking this morning? Can you see the sunlight peeking through? Resurrection is coming; resurrection is here, and with it, hope springs to life. Our very souls spring to life. The stone is rolled away, shattered into a million microscopic pieces as we lift our voices in triumphant praise. He is risen! The grave is powerless! The tomb is empty! He is Elohim, the Mighty One, fighting on our behalf. He is Adonai, powerful ruler, same yesterday, today and forever! He is El Shaddai, God Almighty, rolling away the stones that once held us bound. The tomb is empty. He is alive. Hope is alive. We are alive. Praise His Name!
