He must increase, but I must decrease.” ~John 3:30 The requirement for humility in order to clearly display Christ to the world is similar to the technology of the very computer display you are looking at right now. The human brain has the ability to interpret an arrangement of dots or pixels as one large coherent image if the individual pixels are small enough. If the individual pixels are too big, then the picture is blurry and not clearly defined; conversely, the smaller the pixels, the higher the resolution and the more vivid the picture. If we as individual members of the body of Christ seek to make ourselves great, we ultimately blur and distort the image of Christ being displayed to the world. It is only when we collectively humble ourselves, vying to be the least in the kingdom of God, washing one anothers feet, preferring one another, and seeking to the smallest that Christ is evident to the world. When all of us individual pixels decrease in size, we will become lost in the image of Christ. The world will now longer see us individuals but only the collective church as bearing the image of Christ on earth. When we become smaller in our own eyes, Christ becomes clearer to the world.
