He swears he was only trying to prove a point. A judge slapped - TopicsExpress

He swears he was only trying to prove a point. A judge slapped a California attorney with a $3,000 fine for zapping a witness with a trick pen during a trial over whether electrical currents from a Delta power plant are harming nearby dairy cows. An electricity expert was on the stand testifying that stray currents from a Delta power plant were harming nearby dairy cattle, noting that the jolt from a AAA battery could not be felt by a human, let alone the livestock. The attorney representing the dairy farmers decided to prove his clients point in a more shocking way- he gave a child’s gag pen to the expert. Labeling on the retractable pen says it zaps the user with a harmless powerful shock. The expert grabbed the pen, jerked after receiving the shock and dropped the prop. The problem? The pen was modified to produce much more of a volt than a AAA battery could deliver and the judge wasnt amused. #saltlakecityattorney #attorneysaltlakecity
