Headland, Hartlepool Just back from a couple of days down there - TopicsExpress

Headland, Hartlepool Just back from a couple of days down there and hadnt realised what an interesting place it is. Felt like home from home when I saw Frem W SN1 steaming in and the Princess Royal steaming out! Some lovely church buildings down there and the old town walls walk is a must. Lots of information boards along the way (all topped with a cast monkey!) Got to the spot where the first soldier was killed on British soil in WW1 as a result of the bombardment of Hartlepool by German warships in 1914, but unfortunately the superb looking museum was only open Thurs to Sunday. A path of stepping stones chronicled the history of Headland and of course they had some nice old lighthouses for the benefit of Gillian Blamire :-) The wind farm was quite something at night with all the red lights..but I forgot my camera to take a shot.
