Heads up to anyone who will be in the Gulf Breeze/Downtown Pensacola area this afternoon: Traffic officials are advising motorists of lengthy traffic delays this afternoon as the funeral procession for retired Col. George E. "Bud" Day makes its way from Fort Walton Beach to Pensacola. Gulf Breeze Police have advised that starting around 1 p.m. the procession of more than 500 cars are expected to travel along U.S. 98 from Fort Walton Beach to Pensacola, and should arrive within Gulf Breeze city limits by 2 p.m. In Pensacola, the Pensacola Police said once the motorcade crosses the Pensacola Bay Bridge into city limits it will make its way through Bayfront Parkway and down Main Street and onto Barrancas Avenue. The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office said they anticipate delays on Barrancas Avenue sometime around 2 p.m. as the motorcade makes its way down the roadway to Barrancas Cemetery. Law enforcement will be shutting down the roadways to traffic as the procession passes through the area. Link to article with map of the procession route:
